Vaccination Information Sheets: Getting your COVID-19 Vaccine - What to Expect  and After Your COVID-19 Vaccination

Where and when can I get a COVID-19 vaccination?

You can book at one of the local vaccination centres

We are fielding many enquiries about the vaccine, but unfortunately, we have no control over this and are unable to change your level of priority.

Please visit the government website for the plan of the vaccination roll out. Ministry of Health Vaccine Roll-out.

Currently those over 65 and those with pre-existing medical conditions should be receiving invites to go in, we strongly encourage you to accept this invite promptly when you receive it.

For more local information, please go to the Waitemata DHB website.

You may contact the Vaccination helpline on 0800282926 if you think you have been missed.

Where will I have to go?

Once you have received an invite you should be able to choose your vaccination centre – the local ones are listed below.  Please do not walk-in and expect to be vaccinated.  These clinics are working hard to ensure people are vaccinated in order as per the guidelines.

Birkenhead Vaccination Centre, 1 Cnr Highbury Bypass &, Birkenhead Avenue, Birkenhead

Auckland CBD Vaccination Centre 21 Elliot St, Auckland

Henderson Vaccination Centre 28 Catherine Street, Henderson

Westgate Vaccination Centre 11 Westgate Drive, Westgate

How many vaccinations will I need and how long does it take?

The vaccine is given as 2 doses at least 21 days apart. After the vaccine you will need to stay for 20 minutes to be monitored. Each appointment will take approximately 40 minutes, perhaps longer if there are queues.

Flu or COVID- 19 Vaccination first?

Currently the COVID-19 rollout is overlapping with the influenza vaccine season.  It is recommended there are two weeks between having the COVID-19 vaccination and the flu vaccination.

If you are due for the COVID-19 vaccine and the flu vaccine, having the COVID-19 vaccine takes priority over having the flu vaccine. If you have not been invited for your COVID-19 vaccine it makes sense to go ahead with the flu vaccination. For more information please go to Health Navigator.

Dodson Medical is currently undertaking flu vaccinations for all patients.  Please call 094865482 to book in with the nurse to have this done.
